The Real Slim Shady: mobile network operators

May I have your attention please? Will the real Slim Shady please stand up? I repeat, will the real Slim Shady please stand up? We're gonna have a problem here...The FCC wont let me be (Eminem)
Early termination fees (ETF) from mobile network operators are out of control. I get wonky when things are out of control. Wonky equals time to get creative.
Its important to understand what is in the contract with your mobile network operator (MNO). There is a Federal Universal Service Charge (FUSC) on your bill. I promise. It may be more difficult to find on your electronic bill and will be disguised with something along the lines of, "Other Charges & Credits or Taxes, Governmental Surcharges & Fees." I will reference Verizon as that was the MNO I successfully got to drop the $400 ETF for both phones.

What is the FUSC?
This is a charge created by the FCC to fund  programs that help people in rural communities get telecommunication services, help low income families afford phone service, help pay for teleconferencing systems that are used by rural hospitals, and internet access for schools. That is all really awesome except that its a hidden tax that Verizon is ultimately responsible for. MNO's pass on the surcharge to their customers. This fee fluctuates. Sometimes it decreases and other times it increases. If you notice an increase in this charge you can get out of your contract and avoid the ETF. The magic sentence is, "The rate increase has a material adverse affect on me." What an awesome yet vague legal term.

I am a loophole guru. Here is my guide:
1.) Your MNO will not make this easy. Just be patient, expect to talk to multiple people, and possibly a good chunk of time on the phone with them. Be prepared. Grab your bill and a copy of your contract so you can point out the page, paragraph and lines to the reps. Sound confident. Even if your not. The rep I initially got had no clue what I was talking about.

2.) Call cancellation dept: state you noticed an increase in the FUSC and tell them in your contract it states any prices changes that have a  material adverse affect on you allows you to cancel within 60 days without paying an early termination fee.
3.) Don't believe them when they tell you the FUSC is not a fee set by them so there is nothing they can do because it is a mandatory government charge. Agree with them. Tell them you know this is a mandatory government charge however its a mandatory surcharge Verizon is responsible for. They will reference the, "taxes fees and surcharges we don't set," section of the contract. This is where you point to the section,  "charges and fees we set." The paragraph states, "the FUSC is set by Verizon."
4.) They will claim that material adverse affects have nothing to do with price changes but to do with coverage changes. Go back to original paragraph that states, "we can also change prices and any other conditions in this agreement at any time." further down it states, "if the changes have a material adverse affect on you then you can cancel within 60 days without paying an early termination fee.
5.) Now they will try to claim the change does not have a  materially adverse affect on you because it is only a matter of a few pennies. You can get a little defensive here. Verizon can not tell you what materially adverse is because they have no idea what your financial situation is. If you are good with numbers try and slam them with the percentage approach. A few cents could be a 30% to 40 % increase because if this happens every months those pennies add up.
6.) They will offer a credit because this negates the material adverse affect because now you are not losing any money. Get ready for the hardest argument. Point out that in the contract nothing states that they can negate the affect; though it does say if the affect happens then you can cancel your contract. Another approach is to point out that they are admitting to the affect happening  because they saying they are negating the affect. Then politely remind them they cant change rules of contract after both parties have signed it.

The New Tom Waits Record

In my mind the most important songwriter/lyricist/philosopher of the modern world is the great Tom Waits. His previous efforts where nothing short of musical revelations, with blending styles from 1930's jazz to southern blues to modern rock he has away of taking music cross genres and putting forth a work that bows to no conformity. Mr. Waits newest album is no different. The opening track is a New Orleans style Jazz number that sets the pace for a record that is all killer, no filler. As far as lyrical content, there is a reason the man has been referred to as the Charles Bukowski of music, their is a poetic flow to his word that take the gritty of common life and make them soft and beautiful.

Who Decides When a Missing Child gets National Media Coverage?’

Children go missing in our country all the time. One source states that roughly over 800,000 children are reported missing each year. This number is obviously high, as many of these are ‘family abductions’, and are not typical kidnappings, the kind of the story national news media covers extensively. Yet hundreds of children are kidnapped, plucked on their way home from school or out of their bedrooms at night, yet we only hear about a handful of cases that have extensive national coverage. Local news media is generally supportive of local kidnappings, but what if the child was taken across state lines far away? Many times these children are rescued due to tips assisted by the media. So why is it that some cases never get the attention of the national media, ultimately abandoning the forgotten child and his family. I have always wondered, as I can watch the news for weeks covering the story of an abducted child out in Idaho, why can’t every abducted child receive fair and similar coverage that could help lead to them being found? Family prominence or affluence should not be a factor in determining the amount of effort in helping to locate a missing child the media should have. In many cases of child abductions being ignored by national media, coincidentally or not, the children have been minorities or from a poor family or a dangerous area. I cringe to think that the national media would still prioritize the life of a rich white child over other children, and I truly hope that fair national news coverage and justice is sought for all the missing children in our country.

The 99% vs the 53%

One movement that had been in the spotlight for about a month now is the Occupy Wall Street protests. This is a group of individuals who refer to themselves at the "99%," meaning the 99% of invididuals who were not bailed out of the most recent economic recession. These groups have begun to assemble in major cities to protest economic greed and encourage an equal dispursement of wealth  along with other demands including debt forgiveness and an open boarder policy. In response to this movement, conservative groups have launched a Tumblr account called "We Are The 53%." This group represents the 53% of citizens who pay taxes as oposed to the 46% in the country who do not. The 53% openly criticizes the Wall Street protestors for blaming their economic troubles on others. They encourage the value of hard work and self-reliance in Americans that is needed in hard economic times.
As I look through this blog, I'm loving everything that I see. I will be graduating from college in the spring and I will soo after begin paying back my student loans. That being said, I don't understand why there are so many other people my age who feels like they are owed something. I understand that college is expensive and people are having a hard time finding jobs, but it's not fair to blame Wall Street for those hardships. They did nothing to help accumulate the protestor's debt so they should be responsible for paying it back. I know that I'm going to struggle after I graduate but I know that I will have a strong sense of pride and accomplishment when I pay my own way and I am able to support myself. I want to set up a foundation for a good life and I'm not going to do it by camping out on a city sidewalk.
Feel free to comment!

Where Is The Originality/New Faces of Rock?

I think it's safe to say that everyone loves music. Whether it be R&B, hip-hop, pop, dance, rock, heavy metal, or country, everyone also has their favorite genre too. I can remember going to my grandmother's old house and seeing various soundtracks to musicals like Evita and The Phantom of the Opera. With my parents, their catalog of music is dominated by classic rock bands like Aerosmith and the Rolling Stones. My two brothers only listen to hip hop and pop punk, and my older sister listens to pop music from today all the way to the 80's. I'm not particularly picky with genres, with a minor exception to country, but if I did have to pick a favorite genre or two, it would be rock and heavy metal.

I really can't help but notice though, that there is a lack of originality and new faces in the rock genre. In metal, it is at least evolving and has a variety of new bands that are coming out different enough from the rest. However, metal really isn't the type of genre that dominates the charts (I think the last real heavy metal album to debut at #1 on the Billboard charts was Metallica's Death Magnetic back in 2008). Rock does though, and it's the same bands from the 90's and early 2000's that still dominate the charts. Using the Billboard Rock charts as an example, the Top Ten rock singles are:

10. Blink 182 - "Up All Night"
9. Nickelback - "Bottoms Up'
8. Rise Against - "Make It Stop (September's Children)"
7. Coldplay - "Paradise"
6. Staind - "Not Again"
5. Seether - "Tonight"
4. Foster the People - "Pumped Up Kicks"
3. Bush - "The Sound of Winter"
2. Red Hot Chili Peppers - "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie"
1. Foo Fighters - "Walk"

The only band on there that hasn't been on the charts at least once before is Foster the People. The majority of these bands have formed in the 90's, or in the Chili Peppers case the 80's, and had big hits since then. Foster the People formed in 2009, and their song "Pumped Up Kicks" is one of the most original sounding songs in rock today. Seether and Staind are still playing agnsty post-grunge music, Nickelback is still singing about partying, Bush, Coldplay, and Blink-182 still sound the same, Rise Against is getting kind of preachy nowadays, and two of my favorite bands, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters are making great music still, but it's nothing really new and refreshing. I guess my point is, there is nothing really new to bring to the table with rock music. At least hip hop changes quite a bit, despite it's criticisms.

Pictures Come to Life… Literally

The Lytro Camera is a new camera advancement that allows you to transform your pictures into “living pictures.”  Instead of measuring pictures in megapixel, the Lytro Camera measure pictures in “megarays” (which is the equivalency to 22 megapixels). You are probably questioning how this “magical” camera is able to produce lively pictures. Well, the simple camera has only two buttons, one for power and the other for shutter. By just simply taking a picture of your desired object, the image will automatically be saved into a branded file format. You can manipulate your image such as changing the focus on your computer just like any raw file right after the picture has already been taken! However, the camera is only compatible with MACs (a Windows version is still in development). Currently the 8G camera is priced at $400 (stores up to 350 photos) and the 16G is priced at $500 (stores up to 750 photos). The Lytro Cameras are available for pre-order but will not ship until early 2012. I myself would definitely like to see how this “magical camera” produces “living pictures.

Get Ya Popcorn Ready!

Rumors are swirling tonight in Chicago that the Bears have offered, Terrell Owens, aka TO, a contract. This could be good news for a team  who's receiving corps have been nicked up lately.  It also could be considered bad news for a team that seems to be playing good team football right now.  Bringing in a guy like TO could be the devils poison.  There is no questioning TO when it comes to talent and keeping his body in shape.  As seen yesterday when he worked out in Calabasas, California, shirtless at times, but still showing off an incredibly ripped stomach at 38yrs old.
T.O. has made it clear that he only wants to play for a contender, but at this point I think Terrell would be smart to take any contract that is thrown his way. After having no NFL teams show up at his workout yesterday it was kind of like a slice of humble pie for T.O, who's ego often gets the better of him.  I can't blame the Bears for thinking TO could come in an help a mediocre group of WR's until they get healthy. However, how does anyone know how close Owens is to being in game shape? It would probably be a gamble not worth the risk to many organizations, but the Bears could actually make sense as a landing spot for the mercurial wide-out.

Theo Epstein's time with Boston over

Red Sox nation is waving goodbye to the GM that brought them 2 World Series wins, and ended the teams 86-year World Series drought. The Redsox GM Theo Epstein will be going to the Chicago Cubs, where he will serve as the teams president of baseball operations. He resigns from the Red Sox with one year left on his contract with the team, to which they are still struggling to find a reasonable form of compensation. He is expected to be replaced by assistant GM Ben Cherington.
Theo Epstein had a dramatic impact on the Red Sox. He signed with the Red Sox in 2002, becoming the youngest GM in the history of Major League Baseball at the age of 28. Less than 2 years later, the Red Sox won their first World Series in 86 years, and won another 3 years later. The Red Sox quickly became one of the best franchises in baseball, and remains that way regardless of the teams recent meltdown. It was certain that many changes would be made during the off season after the teams historic September collapse , with the club already parting ways with Manager Terry Francona. These changes may be necessary to get the particular team Boston has in order, but few would deny that the Red Sox are losing the best in the business.

Sports

Everyone takes sports seriously now-a-days. I remember when I was in High School, no one really cared about the games unless they made it to one of the championships. But when I got to College and went out of state, everyone cared about every game. It was something that everyone watched and followed. I was always yelled at because I favored all the Boston teams and everyone there liked the New York teams. It was always a rival on game day and we'd have to go in separate rooms when watching the games. We would yell down the halls to one another when the other team is losing and if someone's team lost, we'd throw it in each others faces. It was how it was there. Now that I'm home, all I see is the Boston teams everywhere. It's quite a change and it is something that I think will never change with some people. I know that I love watching every game no matter what part of the season it is and will always watch the games like I did when I was away at school.
This picture is from one of the game days and we were all civil when football was on.

Disappointed with the media choosing ratings over news stories

I would like to share an observation that my coworkers and I made last July regarding the news media and their coverage of the FAA furlough. On July 23, 2011 there were 4,000 FAA employees who were furloughed indefinitely because Congress could not get their act together and sign the necessary authorization. This lapse impacted many of the contractors throughout the country that support numerous programs that are funded by the FAA. In addition, millions of tax dollars were lost each day this situation continued.
My company is one of those affected which is why we were paying close attention to what was happening in Washington.  We relied on The Hill website for information in the weeks  leading up to the furlough and continuing until it was finally resolved two weeks later.
What we found completely frustrating was the lack of media coverage by the major networks for the first week of the furlough.  On day one of the furlough I saw a brief reference to it on the local ABC news station and it was not one of the top stories. Then on Monday my coworkers and I had expected to see the story on the Today Show or Good Morning America but they did not carry the story for nearly a week. Every day we tuned in and were disgusted by the over the top coverage that the celebrity guests were receiving but there was little or no mention of the 4,000 people who were sent home without pay.  It took nearly a week before these shows began to carry the story as one of the top stories. I quickly realized that even with the news shows they care more about ratings than just reporting the news.

Why, is it always the case?

Every semester I feel I am going to do well, and have it easy. They always turn out to be blood baths in a sense. In a perfect world it would be nice to take one class a semester and put forth all efforts and focus to do well. I always have that mentality especially when juggling school, work, and home life. This semester is just like every other and that it is hectic and the effort and dedication is there, but other aspects of life seem to fall apart. I only hope for a home stretch and start new once I leave this chapter of life. In layman's terms im just looking forward to Christmas break. It would be nice to have a scientific bone in my body where I could develop a genetic clone of myself. There I could program it to do my bidding. It's fun to keep chugging along though.

The NFL- Week 7

This week the Patriots had a bye week and two NFL teams traveled overseas to London. A bye week is a week off, without a game, and every team gets one at some point during the regular season. The Chicago Bears and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers played in the NFL's annual game in London england, and the Bears beat the Buccaneers 24-18. The Oakland Raiders traded the Cincinatti Bengals two first round picks for quarterback Carson Palmer to replace the injured Jason Campbell.
(Carson Palmer in his first interview as a Raider.)
Palmer's debut was unimpressove as he threw for three interceptions and the team was badly beaten by the Kansas City Chiefs. Other notable happeneing in the NFL this week was the performance of Cowboys back up rookie runningback DeMarco Murray who burned the St. Louis Rams defense for a Cowboys record 253 yards. Arian Foster also had a big day with 3 touchdowns for Houston. One of the biggest stories of the day was the beginning of the Tim Tebow era in Denver. In his first game as starter Tebow led the Broncos to two passing scores in the final three minutes and scored a two point conversion to force overtime for his team, which won by a field goal in overtime.

Apple Picking!

Last weekend I went apple picking with my friends and their family. We went to Nashoba Valley to pick apples and buy wine. It was probably one of the hottest days we have had since August! We got a lot of apples so we could make apple pie and apple crisp. After the picking of all the apples we had a big lunch. I had so much fun spending the day with my friends and their family, who I even look at as my own family! I even got blueberry wine!

Gambling with the Lives of the Governed

The Massachusetts Governor, Devall Patrick, and the Legislature are determined to gamble with the money and mores of the people of this state.  Since his first inauguration, Governor Patrick has presented legislation again and again to establish casinos throughout the Bay State, against overwhelming evidence that gambling revenues have not solved the fiscal problems of a single state.  New Jersey has been in deep financial crisis for years--even though they have 17 casinos.  Connecticut, New Jersey and Rhode Island all have moved to increase their states' sales tax to make up for the unmet budgeted income that was projected to come through casinos.  Meanwhile non-gamblers have to pay to provide for the marked increase demand for social/family services as domestic violence, depression, addiction, bankrupcy and suicide are the inevitable partners to addictive gambling behavior.
The facts against gambling could be listed on and on, as well as the stories of men, women, and families ruined by this disease.  But my personal question for the Governor and the Legislature, as they move to bring this curse to our state, would be:  Has a government, elected to watch over the welfare of its citizens, not lost its way, when it determines to perpetuate itself through revenue that comes from the addictions and weaknesses of the very people they are elected to govern?  I would love to hear their answer.

Web Journalism

For my first submission into our class blog I would just like to write briefly about the importance of the subject matter of this course and how educating people to be aware of the world around them and how to intelligently dissect the source's and type of information we get is so essential towards a successful online media future. The internet is still the "wild west" in terms of content regulation and I see it being that for a long time, but I think that the users have the ability to craft the flow of what content should be viable and worth while to read. We are the ones who shift focus to what is important in the world and no longer have to abide by what the bobble heads on the cable news networks feed us as "news". I think this class will be the catalyst for a better understanding and a better future for web journalism.

iPhone Production Conditions

I hope nobody finds my first post distasteful in regards to the recent passing of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, as it was indeed a sad loss of a greatly innovative person. My post is in timely accordance with the unveiling of the new iPhone, therefore I have elected to discuss the conditions in which those who are assembling Apple products work in. Apple produces its products at a plant in China near the city of Shenzhen, where eleven workers have recently been documented having committed suicide while on the job. With over 420,000 employees in two buildings, the statistics may not seem high, but the horrific conditions these people work and live potentially led to their suicides. In response to the recent rash of suicides, the company which operates Apple’s China facility now makes all of their employees sign a legally binding contract stating that they will not kill themselves and that if they do, their employer cannot be held accountable (in other words, they cannot be sued). The problem has become so pronounceable that fences have been placed on the buildings’ roofs and mesh nets have been placed all around the building to prevent any future suicide attempts. The company supplies a team of onsite monks for spiritual guidance as well as social workers, and if any employee seems to be mentally unhealthy, they are to be immediately sent to a mental hospital. Though the company claims it has taken appropriate measures in ensuring employee safety by doing so, I think it would be more appropriate if they provided their employees with humane conditions. The employees are constantly being urged to make every second count and work harder and faster to increase productivity to meet the growing demand for Apple products. Workers toil away in 15 hour shifts in buildings with no air conditioning and sleep in crowded dormitories infested with bugs. With up to forty people housed in one room, workers find it hard to sleep with the noise and odor. Living in such prison-like conditions, I am personally surprised that more workers haven’t killed themselves. With China’s enormous and rapidly growing population, coupled with extreme rates of poverty, any job is coveted. I think it is time for Apple to take responsibility in owning up to the sweatshop like conditions these workers face and set things right.

Is 3D Required

Every week, my friends and I  try to go see a movie at our local movie theater. It's always a fun time, since we all go to different colleges and don't get to see each other as much. Last week, we had chosen to go see The Lion King in 3D, since it was recently just re-released with it.

Now, we all got our glasses and went to the movie. Now, the movie itself is already great and my friends and I debated whether or not if it is the best Disney movie or the best animated movie of all time (I disagree with the latter, Akira, a Japanese anime film is a lot better, but that is off topic). Did it really need the 3D though? It was almost non-existent in the movie too. I couldn't even find on instance of 3D and it just didn't add anything to an already great movie.

This got me thinking, how many movies have I seen recently that actually used 3D in a great way. Since I see a new movie every week, I am used to having to wear the glasses and being disapointed with the 3D. The only times it actually worked was in Tron: Legacy, Thor, and Green Lantern. The 3D in those movies had helpedcreate the setting as something completely different and it really felt like I and my friends were there. With movies like this, The Green Hornet, Captain America, Fright Night, and too many others to name it's just a stupid gimmick that adds nothing to the movie. Quite frankly I am tired of it too, because it has been proved time and time again in both the 50's and 80's that it is just a gimmick.

An actual movie that works in 3D!
What does everyone else think? Have any of you seen a recent 3D movie that actually use it well, and if so which one

Disney's star actress and singer Demi Lovato moves out from her 'comfort zone' music genre of pop/ rock into mainstream R&B. I enjoyed listening to her new album "Unbroken." She is definitely trying to go beyond her 'tween' audiences and gain more popularity amongst young adults. All of her track listings on "Unbroken" are mainly upbeat and fun, something you would listen to on a night out at the club. I provided a link of her song "All Night Long" for you to check out.

Amanda Knox: Free, But Should She Be?

Ever since Amanda Knox was arrested in Italy back in 2008 for allegedly murdering her roommate, Meredith Kercher, I have been obsessed with this story.  Reading news stories, getting reactions from friends who live in Italy, and even watching the movie on Lifetime about Amanda. Now that Amanda has been found not guilty I can't help but be confused. Yes she is free and yes her DNA was not found at the crime scene, but if its true and she really didn't commit this crime then who did? Everyone has their own personal opinion on what happened that night, but will we ever really find out? In a way you have to believe Amanda and her boyfriend, Raffele, didn't commit this crime because if they were smart wouldn't they rat each other out? Whenever I am asked my opinion on what happened I always say that I believe Amanda did not murder Meredith, but I do believe she was there. I think she very much knows exactly what happened to Meredith. I hope now that Amanda is back in Seattle we will find out more.

Top AL and NL teams eliminated in the first round of the MLB playoffs.

It seems impossible, but both the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies have been eliminated from the playoffs. Both teams had the best records of their respective leagues, and many thought they would be the teams in this years World Series, but when it came time to perform on national TV neither team had enough to advance to the next round. They were able to put up a good fight, as both the Yankee's series and Phillies' series went to a game 5, which is the max for a league division series. However, neither team was able to put up much offense in the final game. The Yankees missed many opportunities to score, having only one run to show for having the bases loaded twice, scoring just 2 runs overall in a 3-2 loss to the Detroit Tigers. The Phillies on the other hand were shut out 1-0, with the only run being scored in the 1st inning by the St. Louis Cardinals. I don't think this is necessarily a case of both teams choking, as much as I think it's that the teams they were playing were on top form. As mentioned earlier, it is not like they both got swept, both series' went as far as they could, but both the Tigers and the Cardinals had just a little extra when it mattered most.

Cancer

I have had many experience with people with cancer. The doctors say that they are doing everything they can to make the person better, but in my opinion, giving people pain medication to numb the pain is not all they can do. They could do more tests than just the first one they do. Surgery just exposes the cancer cells to open air and helps to make it spread even more. Instead of just trying to numb the pain, they should just make the person as comfortable as they can. They should try everything in their power to stop the spreading of cancer cells, but unfortunately they can't do much until the research is done. Cancer research is an important part of society today and I just wish there was more everybody can do with the cancer patients and helping them to get better.

Fed up with wireless phone companies

I feel that wireless carriers are out of touch with the needs of their customers and they are taking advantage of consumers by not offering reasonably priced services. I currently have a family share plan through Verizon Wireless which includes three phone lines for my husband and our two teenagers. Last year we upgraded my husband’s phone to a Droid which required an additional data plan and a few other add ons. However, it was last spring that I really became disillusioned and frustrated with Verizon when my son wanted to upgrade his phone
The first thing I did was to check with Verizon to see if they offered a shared data plan and I was shocked to find out they did not. All phones that require a data plan have to carry an individual data plan. I refused to even consider that for my son so I told him I would take him to the Verizon phone to pick out a new phone but it has to be a phone that does not require a data plan. This sounds simple, right? Wrong! Verizon only offers a couple of phones in their entire collection that do not require a data plan! He could choose between a touch screen phone and flip phone with keyboard. I really was shocked and he was not overly thrilled with the choice of available phones.
As a parent I am outraged that we are being “squeezed” this way by the cell phone companies. They are basically forcing us to take on the additional cost of data plans for all the cell phones under our plan. I really don’t understand how most families will be able to afford the added cost associated with a data plan for each one of their kids. Let’s face it there is no reason why they can’t offer a family shared data plan. They already offer shared minutes and unlimited texting. I think as consumers we should all push back until they take a hint and start offering reasonably priced services.
I don’t think I am alone with my frustration. Here is a link to several blogs on the topic of forced data plans: http://forums.cnet.com/7723-7817_102-319706.html

Internet Juggernauts

I have always loved competition. There are many internet battles out there, any industry is a battle. When I first got my computer if I can recall it was in early 1998. My uncle got it for my family and we instantly tinkered with the device and figured out how it worked. The internet was just getting started and Yahoo was popular. From there I have always used Yahoo as my homepage/ search engine. Eventually Google entered the playing field and became the industries most popular search engine and became a standard for most computers. If it wern't for such competition maybe the internet wouldn't have had such a impact or imediate impact to say the least. I just wish I had the ability to go back in time, but to have the knowledge I have now. With that opportunity I would have definetly bought stocks in either of the two. That's how the cookie crumbles.

NFL

I am a fan of the New England Patriots and always have been. This year they are tied for first place with the Buffalo Bills at 4-1, althought the Bills have beat them already once. One team in the NFL is underacheiving this year, after being called the "dream team", and that team is the Philadelphia Eagles. They lost again this week, bringing their record to 1-4, and making it four straight losses. Their quarterback, Michael Vick, threw multiple interceptions again, and turnovers were not their only problem. The Eagles have looked very sloppy in their last few games. Philadelphia fans are calling for the firing of their head coach, Andy Reid, and they want the team to hire former coach and current NFL Commentator, Jon Gruden. Gruden was a good coach and led Tampa Bay to a super bowl. I think the Eagles definetly need to fire Reid, although I dont think Gruden  is the best choice, but not a bad choice.

Work, Life, Balance and the Working Mother

I am always struggling to try to find balance in my life.  I am a mother, working full time and going to school.  This can be extremely stressful as many of you are aware.  There are many ways I try to find balance in my life although not always successful.  Most of the time look back and say "Where they heck do the day, week and month go?"
A few things I try to do to combat stress are:
1)    Exercise
2)    Get enough rest
3)    Eat properly (which is easier said than done)
4)    Take time for myself
I don’t know if anyone watches the sitcom “The Middle” but one particular episode pretty much depicted how I feel once in a while.  Please see link and episode “Major Changes”.  http://abc.go.com/shows/the-middle
An article I found that was informative written by CareerPath.com at http://www.careerpath.com/career-advice/how-mothers-can-balance-work-and-family/
The article spoke about how to make things easier by letting others do their share.  I found that I was so obsessed with trying to get everything done that I was doing everything myself before anyone has a chance to help.  I also had to learn to accept that things are not perfect and may never be perfect but at least I didn’t have to do it all myself.
I feel that I have learned a lot and that finding Work, Life, Balance is a work in progress.
