Every week, my friends and I try to go see a movie at our local movie theater. It's always a fun time, since we all go to different colleges and don't get to see each other as much. Last week, we had chosen to go see The Lion King in 3D, since it was recently just re-released with it.
Now, we all got our glasses and went to the movie. Now, the movie itself is already great and my friends and I debated whether or not if it is the best Disney movie or the best animated movie of all time (I disagree with the latter, Akira, a Japanese anime film is a lot better, but that is off topic). Did it really need the 3D though? It was almost non-existent in the movie too. I couldn't even find on instance of 3D and it just didn't add anything to an already great movie.
This got me thinking, how many movies have I seen recently that actually used 3D in a great way. Since I see a new movie every week, I am used to having to wear the glasses and being disapointed with the 3D. The only times it actually worked was in Tron: Legacy, Thor, and Green Lantern. The 3D in those movies had helpedcreate the setting as something completely different and it really felt like I and my friends were there. With movies like this, The Green Hornet, Captain America, Fright Night, and too many others to name it's just a stupid gimmick that adds nothing to the movie. Quite frankly I am tired of it too, because it has been proved time and time again in both the 50's and 80's that it is just a gimmick.
An actual movie that works in 3D!
What does everyone else think? Have any of you seen a recent 3D movie that actually use it well, and if so which one

I was dragged to see Step Up 3 (the dancing movie) in 3D ... I left with a headache . These 3D movies are getting out of control , Hollywood cannot make every movie work as a 3D , it really takes away from the actual movie in some instances.
